Goodbye Without Leaving

This sensitive yet humorous story about one woman's attempt to remain true to herself in a world of diminishing returns finds bored graduate student Geraldine Coleshares confronting new possibilities when she tours as the only white backup singer for Vernon and Rudy Shakely and the Shakettes. She ultimately succumbs to a conventional life of marriage, children, and bittersweet memories and must reconcile her past and her future without losing her sense of self.
