My Secret History

This novel tells the story of Andre Parent. Its six chapters show Andre as an altar boy in Boston; a college student caught up in his first love affair; a Peace Corps worker in Nyasaland (when it was about to become Malawi); a cynical womanizer, passing through a series of affairs in England and Africa, the last of which results in a marriage; a travel writer experiencing his wife's infidelity; and a middle-aged writer exploring the meaning of his various coexisting lives.
