About the Author
Born in Romania, Adrian George Sahlean holds a Masters Degree in English and Spanish philology (Bucharest, 1975) and psychoanalysis (Boston, 1995). He completed his clinical training as certified psychoanalyst (2002) while working as a tennis coach of the US Professional Tennis Association (since 1986) and finishing a doctoral thesis on psychoanalytic interpretations of Romanian national ballad Mioritza. He is a published author of three volumes of poetry translations into English and of essays on literary translation. His meter-and-rhyme renditions of 19-th century Romanian national poet Mihai Eminescu (UNESCO Year-2000-Poet-Of-The-Year) brought him the Eminescu Gold Medal and election into the prestigious Romanian Writer's Union.
Adrian George Sahlean is currently a faculty fellow at the Boston Graduate School of Psychoanalysis in Brookline, MA., a psychoanalyst in private practice, and a performance coach at the Longfellow Health Center in Wayland, MA.
Past activities include: professional children's choir; founder of a-cappella group SONG" (2 records, national awards in Romania); part-time actor with Bulandra repertory company; second prize at classical guitar festival (Sinaia, 1982); marathon runner (Boston, 1993). Serious hobby: bel-canto singing.
