Author Van Heller is a legend among writers of erotic fiction, so good that his name and craft were often imitated, but never duplicated. The Devil's Advocate takes a nod from Candy, presenting the innocent Clara Reeves, and tracking her gradual seduction by attorney Sam Garnett, a man whose callous libertinage contrasts nicely with her winsome naivete. Clara hires Garnett to find out what happened to her sister, a girl who vanished leaving behind nothing save dirty pictures. Of course, she doesn't have the money to pay for his services, but an arrangement is made and to amuse Sam the girl goes undercover, between the covers and on top of the covers at a local chateau, there to learn the identity of a Scorpion and trace her lost sibling.
